2011-2012 PROJECT GRANTS FOR TEACHERS
The McHenry County Farm Bureau Agriculture in the Classroom program is offering grants of up to $200 (Pre-School through High School) to fund projects promoting agricultural literacy in the classroom.
• To apply for project funding, please complete the form below, outlining the project, goals and desired outcomes.
• Projects may be, but are not limited to, agricultural teaching units, classroom presentations, and career fairs. Be creative and develop an interesting, valuable agricultural experience for your students.
• Projects should focus on integrating agriculture into a variety of curriculum areas.
• Priority for grants will be given to grants that contain materials for use over multiple school years.
• High School Ag teachers may apply with an elementary teacher if their classes or FFA Chapters are working on an agriculture literacy unit. Grants and materials must reflect an Agriculture Literacy theme or component.
• Incomplete grants or grants that request consumables will not be considered. Funding for field trips, landscaping, plants and one time use consumables will not be granted.
• In the past, grant reviewers have looked more favorably upon grants with a direct agriculture connection (IL Crop/Livestock) than materials related to general insects, butterflies and composting.
• Illinois Farm Bureau is offer grants up to $250 as well, click here for more information.

Applications must be received at the McHenry County Farm Bureau Office , 1102 McConnell Road, PO Box 1530, Woodstock, IL 60098 by 4:30 p.m. on October 7, 2011. Teachers selected for the project funding will be notified by November 2, 2011. Itemized expenses for approved grants will be due to the McHenry County Farm Bureau Office by May 1, 2012.
