A Day at Petersen Farm

"Celebrating Abraham Lincoln"

On Sunday, June 28th, from 10:00 am thru 4:00 pm Abraham Lincoln, authentic 1860's era music, Civil War Soldiers' camp, a Magician, and Lincoln stories will come to the annual "Day at Petersen Farm". Farm life in the late 1800's such as: hay rides, farm animals, children's games, pie-making, spinning, weaving, quilting, tatting, hooking & braiding rugs, gardening and leather works will also be on display. Food and refreshments will be available.The historic Petersen Farm is located on McCullom Lake Rd., 1 mile west of Route 31. (across from Petersen Park) Admission is FREE. We will have a 1:00 PM parade on Petersen Farm grounds with "8th Illinois Cavalry" leading "Abraham Lincoln & Mary Todd Lincoln" in a horse drawn carriage; Miss McHenry and her court will help with children's games & activities (sack races, etc.,); Bear Creek Music will provide authentic late 1800 music all day (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM); Library will have puppet shows & Lincoln stories under the pine trees; Farm Bureau families will provide glimpses of rural farm life with farm animal display; 20 tents with different examples of 1800 farm life (from quilts to sewing to pie-baking; Historical displays on Lincoln; and food vendors with all kinds of tasty treats and sandwiches!
